Pricing and payment methods

The software for the JonDonym service is free, as are some of the Mix Cascades. Payment is only necessary in order to use the high-quality anonymisation system, the

Premium Service

• High availability There are always enough Cascades with costs available for connection.
• Good performance A minimum speed of at least 100 kbit/s can be guaranteed as of 90% of the annual average.
• High security The Mix Cascades with costs are often longer than those without, and are typically spread over several countries as well.
• All internet ports may be used, for example FTP, SSH, chat,...

Rates and prices

We offer no subscriptions, but prepaid plans only. The current rates are combi rates: they have a limited duration and a limited volume. If one of these expires, the whole rate expires. Current prices will be displayed when creating an account in the JAP / JonDo application. We offer the following plans:

* We assume an average of 416 KByte per web site. This refers to the results of a recent study and to the traffic typically caused by the JonDonym encryption (25% overhead). If parts of the web site are loaded from browser cache the number of visitable pages tends to be higher. The residence time on the page does not have any influence on the billing, if the site, or parts, are not reloaded during visit.

Payment Methods

We accept the following payment methods:

* We hereby clearly state that neither we nor third parties can be made liable for the money sent by mail.
** You may do a cash bank transfer to our account in a bank where you don't have an account yourself. You will have to leave your name, but nobody will check your identity for this payment. If someone does, just try another bank. Note that the bank will charge a fee of up to 10 Euro for this service.
*** Fees within Europe that other payment service providers (not JonDos) request. Outside Europe, higher fees may be charged by the payment providers.

We are working on also offering the following payment methods:

• cashU
• Credit card (native integration into JonDo)

We only need a transaction number and a corresponding cash receipt in order to account a payment, no personal data. The JonDonaut may choose by himself the method to transfer both to us.

Payment is basically done by using the client program (JAP / JonDo) which has to be installed beforehand.

Contract

Contracts expire automatically - no subscription, no hidden fees, no renewals. If you like the service, however, you may buy a new rate at any time.

Duration

All plans have a limited duration. It is calculated using calendar months and ends with the hour of activation, that means not necessary at 23:59 of the last day of validity. Moreover, small deviations may happen depending on your current time zone and the clock setting in your computer.

Pseudonymous accounts

No registration is needed for payment, and we definitely don't ask for a name or email address. JAP / JonDo automatically creates disposable numbered accounts that can be charged once with a volume plan. A contract is valid as soon as we receive your payment, and ends when the chosen volume plan, and with it the account, expires. For each account, a separate determinable contract is conluded, independent of all prior contracts.

Accounts are time-limited in order to increase anonymity, preventing observation of an account's usage over a longer time period. While we are happy to receive your payment to support ongoing development of the service, we would also like to encourage the JonDonauts to make use of their credit by habitually surfing via JAP. This way, the operators of our Mixes get paid, and all users enjoy increased anonymity.  If you are unsure about how much traffic you need, simply choose our introductory offer of a "Tiny" volume plan.

Prepayment at Mix Cascades

JonDonym does not only need prepayment for rates, but also, in a smaller scope, for each Mix Cascade. This is technically needed, as otherwise fraud would be easy. Hence each Mix Cascade keeps a mini account for each user account that has logged in to the Cascade with 3 MB at maximum. At the first connection to a Cascade therefore typically 3 MB are subtracted from the common account in credit of the JonDonaut. The Mix Cascade remembers this mini credit over all logins of the JonDonaut.
